UNECE Releases Report on Building an Integrated Energy System in Central Asia

Stronger integration of the energy systems of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan can contribute to the region’s sustainable development. Projections through 2050 indicate that the development of cross-border electricity trade and the expansion of infrastructure will enable Central Asian countries to save up to $1.4 billion annually, improve the reliability of energy supply, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

As part of RES 2026, experts from across Central Asia will discuss measures to enhance energy efficiency and cut emissions through the deployment of low-carbon technologies.
