Energy transition issues will be discussed in Astana at the Regional Environmental Summit.

✔️From April 22 to 24, 2026, Astana will host the first Regional Environmental Summit. One of the event's key platforms will be a panel session dedicated to a just energy transition in Central Asia, organized by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
✔️Energy transition issues remain important for many countries. Global energy consumption grows annually, necessitating the preservation and development of all energy sources—oil, gas, coal, nuclear, solar, and wind power.
✔️The main goal is not to eliminate energy sources, but to make each one cleaner and more efficient. After a period of excessive energy pressure, energy policies in many countries are once again emphasizing balance and a pragmatic approach. It is especially important to consider national circumstances and the pace of energy transition.
✔️The role of digitalization and artificial intelligence in optimizing energy systems, increasing grid reliability, and reducing emissions must be emphasized.
✔️Kazakhstan is implementing an evolutionary energy transition path. Hydrocarbons retain a significant role in the economy, but are implementing clean technologies, including carbon capture. Renewable energy is actively developing in the country.
✔️The Regional Environmental Summit (RES 2026) is an international event aimed at uniting the countries of Central Asia and other countries to address pressing environmental issues, including climate change, water resource degradation, sustainable natural resource management, and others. RES 2026 will be held from April 22 to 24, 2026, in Astana, Kazakhstan. The Summit is expected to be attended by 1,500 delegates – representatives of governments, international organizations, businesses, and academia.
✔️The initiative to hold RES 2026 in partnership with the UN was announced by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in 2023.
