Green Runway Fashion Show to Unite Leading Designers from Central Asia and Azerbaijan for the First Time at RES 2026 EXPO in Astana

On April 23, as part of the international exhibition of environmental technologies RES 2026 EXPO, the first international eco-fashion show, Green Runway Fashion Show, will take place, bringing together leading designers from Central Asia and Azerbaijan. The event will become one of the key cultural highlights of the exhibition and will, for the first time, present regional fashion in the context of sustainable development on an international platform.

The main feature of the show is its unique scenography, incorporating live plants and natural elements to create the effect of a “living space” and emphasize the connection between fashion and nature. The format introduces a new approach to the industry, where aesthetics are combined with environmental responsibility and the cultural identity of the region.

Among the participants are Tatyana Vorotnikova (Kyrgyzstan), Gulnara Khalilova (Azerbaijan), Leili Khaidova (Turkmenistan), Elena Ladik (Uzbekistan), Khurshed Satorov and Nafisa Imranova (Tajikistan), and Aidarkhan Kaliyev (Kazakhstan). Each designer will present collections of 10–12 looks across three conceptual направления:

• Eco-Heritage – reinterpretation of traditional costumes using natural fabrics and dyes; 
• Upcycling & Recycling – creation of clothing from recycled materials; 
• Bio-Design – use of natural prints and materials, including imagery of rare plants, some of which are listed in the Red Book. 

Green Runway Fashion Show will serve as a platform for dialogue between designers, environmentalists, investors, and government representatives, and will also showcase the potential of Central Asia and Azerbaijan in the development of sustainable fashion and creative industries.

It should be noted that RES 2026 EXPO will take place from April 22 to 24 in Astana and will become one of the largest international platforms dedicated to green technologies and sustainable development. The exhibition will feature companies from 30 countries (around 300 companies), with expected attendance exceeding 20,000 visitors.

Background:
The Regional Environmental Summit (RES 2026) is an international event aimed at bringing together countries of Central Asia and other states to address pressing environmental challenges, including climate change, water resource degradation, sustainable natural resource management, and more. RES 2026 will be held from April 22 to 24, 2026, in Astana, Kazakhstan. The Summit is expected to host 1,500 delegates, including representatives of governments, international organizations, businesses, and academia. The initiative to hold RES 2026 in partnership with the United Nations was announced by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in 2023.
