Preparations for the Central Asian Environmental Summit were discussed in Almaty

Preparations for the Central Asian Environmental Summit, which will be held in Astana next April, were discussed today in Almaty. Participants of the "Green Impulse" meeting—representatives of the business community, international organizations, and the public and non-governmental sectors—discussed the role of financial institutions in various projects related to the development of a green economy, carbon transition, and waste management. The fight against greenwashing—companies that falsely market their goods or services as environmentally friendly—was also discussed. Following the meeting, the participants will prepare recommendations for the regional environmental summit in Astana.
Yerlik Karazhan, Director of the Central Asian Climate Fund:
Preparations are currently underway for the Central Asian Regional Environmental Summit, which will be held April 22-24 next year in Astana. This is a leaders' summit in partnership with the UN to discuss Central Asian issues related to climate change and, more generally, environmental responsibility. I hope that the environmental issues raised will be resolved. We are working hard on this. Perhaps, universal participation in the discussion of these issues and the proposal of initiatives and recommendations is what is needed.
