Astana Prepares for the Global Central Asia Climate Summit

On April 22, 2026, Astana will host the 8th Central Asia Conference on Climate Change (CACCC-2026) — the largest regional platform for advancing the climate agenda, including adaptation, climate finance, and climate policy — as part of the Regional Ecological Summit 2026 (RES-2026)

The conference will bring together representatives of Central Asian governments, international organizations, financial institutions, business, academia, and civil society to discuss urgent climate priorities.

At CACCC-2026 in Astana, delegates will focus on advancing national climate commitments under the updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs 3.0), and on both adaptation and mitigation measures — including methane reduction initiatives and the expansion of renewable energy. Emphasis will also be placed on strengthening regional cooperation and developing coordinated positions among Central Asian countries ahead of the 31st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31).
A significant impetus for the CACCC-2026 agenda stems from the outcomes of COP30, held in Belém, Brazil in 2025. One of the key COP30 deliverables was the “Baku–Belém Roadmap”, aimed at mobilizing no less than USD 1.3 trillion per year by 2035 to support climate actions in developing countries.

Following CACCC-2026, the organizers expect to adopt joint political statements, agree on roadmaps, and outline concrete steps to advance climate investments and regional initiatives.
