Concept of the Regional Ecological Summit 2026 Presented to Central Asian Parliamentarians

Representatives of the Project Office for Central Asia on Climate Change and Green Energy of the Central Asian Climate Fund (hereinafter – the Project Office) presented the concept of the Regional Environmental Summit (hereinafter – RES-2026) during the 2nd Regional Dialogue on Circular Economy in Central Asia. Particular attention was given to discussing the initiative to develop a Framework Partnership Program on Circular Economy in Central Asia, which is being prepared for presentation at RES-2026. 

The 2nd Regional Dialogue on Circular Economy in Central Asia (hereinafter – the Dialogue), organized by the SWITCH-Asia Programme in cooperation with the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), took place on October 13–14 in Almaty. The event gathered parliamentarians from all five Central Asian countries, as well as representatives of government bodies, international organizations, business circles, the expert community, and the Project Office

During the third session of the Dialogue, Mr. Yerlik Karazhan, Head of the Project Office, presented the concept of RES-2026, which will be held in Kazakhstan and serve as a key platform for launching regional initiatives in the field of green transition.

Special attention of the participants was devoted to the initiative on developing the Framework Partnership Program on Circular Economy in Central Asia, aimed at building a platform for cooperation among regional countries, international partners, and the business community. The initiative seeks to promote sustainable production and consumption, the development of green markets, and the implementation of circular economy principles. 

Following the discussion, representatives of parliaments, international organizations, and the expert community emphasized Kazakhstan’s pivotal role as a driver of regional cooperation and expressed their readiness for constructive collaboration to harmonize approaches and implement joint projects within the future Framework Program.

The participation of the Project Office in the Dialogue highlighted its role in advancing the regional circular economy agenda and in shaping a new architecture for environmental and investment partnership in Central Asia.

As previously announced, the Regional Ecological Summit will be held in Astana on April 22–24, 2026. The Project Office plays a key role in the organizational and substantive coordination of the preparations for RES-2026.
