Food Security and the Region’s Ecosystems

Food security is one of the key determinants of the region’s future.

More than 20% of land in Central Asia is already affected by degradation. Even if global warming is limited to 1.5°C, temperatures in the region could rise by 2–2.5°C by 2050, increasing pressure on water resources and the agricultural sector.

Declining crop yields, rising production costs and supply disruptions are directly impacting household incomes, employment and the economic stability of countries across the region.

For Central Asia, with a population of over 80 million, this represents a strategic priority.

The Regional Ecological Summit 2026 provides a platform for coordinated solutions – from integrated resource management to the development of sustainable agrosystems.
